Re: An inventory of WASH training events and resources
Hi Brian and Dorothee,
Just to ensure that everyone knows what you are talking about: I think you were discussing the different filters in the library. See screenshot for the filter "by training resource":
If we were to add more filter options there, then someone would first have to tell the secretariat what should be added to the library. The training resource documents that we currently have there were mostly provided by CAWST last year which was very helpful.
But this is different to the factsheet or inventory listing in Google doc that Dorothee and Dan were discussing.
Regards,
Elisabeth

Hi Brian
Great suggestion!
In the past we had the policy, that we only added categories to the library if we have resources to add
So could you share with us a list of what you would add in this category?
We can then forward this to the secretariat...
Thanks! Dorothee

Re: An inventory of WASH training events and resources
Hi Dorothee
can you add another category to your list. A section for capacity builders looking at the pedagogy behind training and curriculum development. There are some interesting papers on competencies and capacity assessments that should be included. This is an inward facing topic for those aiming to improve the quality of training. You could also include all the various standards to make them more widely known. Thus we would have a hierarchy of categories;
- activities
- training manuals
- course outlines
- theory and research
regards

Dear Dan and all
Thanks for starting this thread and all the valuable contributions!
It’s interesting to me as lead of Working Group 1 (capacity development) to follow this thread and see all the interesting contributions...
Some years ago we had compiled a similar list in our working group factsheet (www.susana.org/en/knowledge-hub/resource.../library/details/167).
We have also been working on getting more training resources into the SuSanA library and added an extra cateogiry which also includes a search function: (look out for "Filter by training resource" at the left side of the page). The category includes three types:
It would be great we could incorporate your list there, either in a shortened version or just with a link. Maybe we could think of compiling a summarizing table of all the posts with a title, category, link, and short descirption of the resources? Could you move forward with this.
Next week we will post the draft outline of the new factsheet (no link yet, sorry). There we have for now plannend to have following section:
Capacity development resources for sustainable sanitation: (a) actors and SuSanA partners engaged in cap. dev. ; b) training courses; c) web-platforms. How could we better structure this section?
Meanwhile, I encourage everyone to keep telling Dan which WASH training events and resources ought to be included (I assume only recurring ones are of relevance for this, not the one-off type events).
Thank you so much!
Cheers, Dorothee

Hi Dan,
Thank you for kick-starting this thread.
I am involved in a capacity development program, the International Training Program on Sustainable Urban Water and Sanitation (ITP SUWAS). It is funded by Sida and it part of their long-running ITP series. It's run by Niras (a consulting firm) and WaterAid Sweden and has been ongoing since 2016. Every year, a total of 120 urban WASH professionals are trained in a 15-month program, with a special emphasis on inclusion, sustainability and integration. There's typically 12 participants from two urban areas in each of the countries of Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Nepal as well as Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. More info about the program and how to be part of it (for those from the program countries) is available here: www.niras.com/development-consulting/int...nd-sanitation-suwas/
