Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Hi Alice,

While I was contracted by the foundation, lab and field testing identified a couple failure modes that were deemed critical. After my contract ended, the foundation continued with the development but I don't have any insights into what has been accomplished. You will need to contact the foundation for more details.

I have been working on a new version of the pump as well – one that resolves the problems found in testing, reduces the cost, and makes maintenance even simpler. At the moment we are applying for funding from various organizations so that we can complete the prototypes and perform lab and field testing.

Could you tell me more about your interest in the manual pump? Do you have a specific location in mind and if so, what are the pit contents like?

Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Hello Andrew and hello everyone,
I would like to know how the trials for the pump went.
Is there any thread or report about it, or can anyone just give me an idea of the results?

Thank you very much,
Alice

Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Hi Aoife,

The pump is still in development so there is no documentation to release yet. And while we've done some facility testing, the real lab testing will begin in about 2 months. Around that same time the field testing in Africa and SE Asia.

We received 9 proposals for testing of the pump. Next week, the list of candidates will be given to the WSH team at the foundation and they'll select the partners they deem most appropriate. I'm not sure how long the selection process will take but I'll post the results at that time.

Cheers and thanks for the interest.

Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Hi Andrew,

Do you have any documentation about the design of the pump or results from laboratory testing? Have you selected partners to trial the pump already?

Cheers,

Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Hi Woody,

Great questions. While I've run the pump alone, it really needs two operators. One pumps the handle while the other holds and directs the stinger (intake). In cases where the stinger can just be allowed to dangle in the tank, one operator can work.

I think we will be sending two pumps to the testing partners. Maybe three but definitely 2 at a minimum. Plus, we will be sending spare parts.

Once the testing is done, the testing partners will be able to keep the pump unless there is a failure mode we want to look at in greater detail. In that case, we would want the pump, or failed part back. If only a part needs to be returned to us, we would send a replacement part or have the partner fabricate a replacement. Note that most parts of the pumps are designed so they can be easily fabricated in the target market.

Cheers,

Andrew

Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Hi Andrew,

I have a few questions:

1. How many people are required to operate the manual pump?

2.How many pumps will you send to a Testing Partner?

3.Will you want the pumps to be sent back to you after the testing period?

Best Regards

Woody

Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Oh Dean, to answer your question, the Beaumont Manual Pump is a different pump than the one shown in the video.

Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Hi All,

We've received questions about how the manual pump will reach the chosen partners. Beaumont will have the pump delivered, and will handle the cost of the delivery.

If there are other questions, please do not hesitate to either post on this forum or email us directly (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Re: Solicitation for Manual Pump Testing Partners

Hi Dean,

Here is an illustration of 2nd generation prototype of the pump. I'll post an actual picture of the final prototype in the next few weeks and a video as well.

Cheers,
