We would like to share that Japan Association of Drainage and Environment (JADE) has started to construct EcoSan toilet in Bangladesh through business model. This approach of toilet construction is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Initially 300 toilet will be constructed at rural household level but it is expected that through business model number of toilet will proliferate gradually.

Thank you for your interest. I would like to share that JADE is working in Bangladesh since 2004 with the initiation of EcoSan toilet as the first time. By this time we have expanded it in different areas of Bangladesh and many other organizations also already come forward to expand it. All of our observation is, as a technology EcoSan toilet is sound one in Bangladesh perspective but its construction cost is comparatively higher than mostly used conventional toilet. Previously subsidy was given from the project but it is not a solution for wider aspect and it is not sustainable approach. So, we have started construction through business model. As we have just started, please let us see the result. So, I hope to share you the result and process in time as appropriate.

Thanks for your interest. We are promoting double chambers UDDT for the household of 6-8 members. Substructure is completely brick made and watertight but superstructure can be made by brick or local materials. It is constructed upper ground at homestead level. Please have a look on the photo as attached herewith.

Tofayel, do you have a published paper that I can read to understand the science behind the Ecosan Toilet? How much water does the toilet require? What is the average cost of construction?
