The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS) is organizing SWACCHATHON 1.0 – a Swachh Bharat Hackathon to crowd source solutions to some of the pressing issues faced during the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission. The Ministry looks forward to innovative solutions from you focusing on the target group of students, professionals and organizations including start-ups. The solutions should be affordable, easy to maintain, scalable, environment friendly and user-friendly.

The event is being held in three rounds. In Round 1, participants will be required to make online submission of entries on the MyGov portal ( innovate.mygov.in ). Subsequently, the selected participants will be required to present a live demonstration of their solution in Round 2. The finals are to be held on 8th of September, 2017. Attractive cash prizes will be given to the winners in each category. Further details regarding the event can be accessed on the website .

Primarily, the Ministry is seeking solutions to problems in the following categories:
1. Technological solutions to monitor usage of toilets
2. Technological solutions for bringing behavioural change for toilet usage and hygiene
3. Innovative, sustainable, environment-friendly and affordable toilet technology for hilly, dry, flood-prone and remote areas.
4. Innovative models and methods to improve the operation and maintenance of school toilet
5. Innovative solutions for Menstrual Heath Management
6. Innovative solutions for early decomposition of faecal matter
