Introducing NGO Forum for Public Health: a current partner organisation of SuSanA
This is an introduction to one of our current partners.
The following text is taken directly from their application form and was written by the partner organisation themselves.
Description:
NGO Forum for Public Health is the national networking and service delivery organization providing facilities and services in the areas of public health including water, sanitation, hygiene and the environment with a special focus on climate change. It operates with the objective of contributing to the improvement of the Public Health situation in Bangladesh.
Activities in Sustainable Sanitation:
NGO Forum for Public Health recently expanded its scope after working, for the last 30 years, in the area of drinking water supply and sanitation. These WatSan activities and focus still remain integral to the organization and are carried out through multiple activities such as local NGO training and coordination, providing relevant resources to sector stakeholders, facilitating local initiatives through our 14 regional offices throughout Bangladesh and managing internationally funded projects such as ‘Promotion of Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene in Hard-to-Reach Areas of Rural Bangladesh’ running from 2011-2014.
Expectations in the Partnership:
With water and sanitation being such a high priority for Bangladesh, NGO Forum’s activities have, and will continue to be, focused on sanitation, water and public health in general with a constant spotlight on the sustainability of any activity. NGO Forum, being an organization that values the transfer and sharing of knowledge and expertise, would therefore benefit from this partnership through an increased network, as well as the ability to share, discuss and generate new ideas with like-minded organizations.
In order to gain these sorts of benefits, NGO Forum would expect access to this network as well as the ability and promotion of communication and collaboration among the SuSanA partner network.
Contribution to SuSanA:
NGO Forum for Public Health is a nation-wide NGO that has been operating in the development sector of Bangladesh for over 30 years. With the extensive experience and community awareness, it provides unique access to communicate with and share knowledge across its network of over 850 partners. Being a member of SuSanA would enable NGO Forum to further spread and promote sustainable sanitation initiatives, ideas and best practices throughout Bangladesh.
While some staff are already individual members of the SuSanA Forum, becoming a partner would further promote staff awareness and input, enabling a richer and broader network for individuals across the SuSanA Forum.
Partner since: February 2012
