Introducing Solidarités International from France: A new partner organisation of SuSanA

We would like to welcome Solidarités International
from France as a new SuSanA partner organisation!

The following text is taken from their application form and was written by the partner organisation themselves.

Description and Activities in Sustainable Sanitation:
For over 35 years, the humanitarian aid organization Solidarités International has been committed to providing aid in the event of conflict and natural disasters. Our mission is to provide aid as quickly and as efficiently as possible to endangered populations by meeting their vital needs: drinking water, food and shelter.
After providing emergency aid, our humanitarian teams accompany the most vulnerable families and communities until they recover their livelihoods and self-sufficiency, to enable them to deal with the challenges of an uncertain future with dignity. Solidarités International is particularly committed to fighting water-related diseases, the primary cause of death in the world today. Drawing on their expertise, our teams develop and carry out aid programs in the fields of water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as in the essential domains of food security and reconstruction.

Re: Introducing Solidarités International from France: A new partner organisation of SuSanA

That's an important organization that has joined SuSanA as a partner in November of last year!
Here on their SuSanA partner profile you can see which countries they work in (mostly in Africa but also in Asia):

It would be nice if they could add at least a couple of their flagship sanitation projects to the SuSanA project database as well. I'll ask Alberto about that.

Regards,
Elisabeth

Re: Introducing Solidarités International from France: A new partner organisation of SuSanA

Thanks Elisabeth to welcome SI in the big family of SuSanA!

Solidarites International designs and runs different sanitation programs. At the moment the main sanitation programs are in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Lebanon and South Sudan. Solidarites works mainly in IDPs camps but not only. It is in charge of desludging and it uses single or combined technologies that vary from settlers, anaerobic baffled reactors, waste stabilization ponds, constructed wetlands, simplified trickling filters, thickening ponds, dryings beds, composting, biogas reactors, tertiary filtration and disinfection, lime treatment and others.
Moreover, Solidarites International is currently running together with Borda a project to develop and effectively disseminate guidance that informs decision-making on the selection, establishment and risk mitigation of faecal sludge disposal sites in the first stages of a rapid-onset emergency.
