Such sad news: Please see attached announcement by Chris' employer, the University of Kwa Zulu Natal in South Africa.
He will be sorely missed in the WASH sector. I met him a couple of times at conferences (I think the first time in 2005 at the ecosan conference in Durban). His sense of humour, passion for sanitation and interest in supporting early career WASH people were always wonderful to witness!

In memory of Chris Buckley
It is with deepest sorrow that we inform you that our dearest colleague and friend passed away peacefully on the 27th May 2021 after a hard and brave fight against cancer. Chris touched so many people’s lives and words cannot express how much he will be missed.
