Re: Planning has begun for the 16th SuSanA meeting in Stockholm, 31 Aug. and 1. Sept. 2012
Hi again
I would also like to ask all members to let me/us know if you have experiences that you would like to share during a Working Group 1 Meeting (Capacity Development). If you do not feel comfortable, you can also contact me via email or use the WG1 mailing list!
Looking forward meeting and exchanging soon again!

Dear Trevor and all,
I like very much both of your suggestions.
The first makes sense because it helps in keeping the links within the different sub-groups and the drive of SuSanA as a whole. It also strengthens the network of different members (especially some which may had little interaction until now).
Moreover it underlines one of the main strength of SuSanA: its integrated approach covering brining the different sectors represented in the different working groups together; and the power that the combination of these groups has, to contribute to the sectors development with holistic outcomes and documents.
The second, a SuSanA strategy is something that has been in our minds since a long time, right. I once tried to have a short workshop on a similar topic for working group 1 during the Stockholm meeting in 2011:

I personally think, that it is extremely important to collect information from the different SuSanA members on their expectations and contributions and, based on this, jointly define how these should be brought together and translated into future activities/outcomes. To align the expectations to the contributions result in the benefits one sees being a members and helps us to keep SuSanA alive.
Looking forward to other comments!

Re: Content Ideas for the 16th SuSanA meeting in Stockholm, 31 Aug. and 1. Sept. 2012
Hi all
A few suggestions / ideas for content for the upcoming 16th SuSanA meeting.
1. A session on Energising the Working Groups
2. A strategy session on SuSanA as a whole
A short description of what comes to mind for these two suggestions:
1. A session on Energising the Working Groups
1.1. A session for all working group leads, co-leads and members to attend to discuss topics that span all the working groups. Like working together on joint initiatives, future outputs, networking approaches and the public perception of what the working groups are and what they do within SuSanA. With a 1 to 2 page document being produced that represents what was discussed during the session. This should then be circulated.
1.2. A session for the each working group who have members in attendance to put together or fine tune the working groups targets and output for the next 6 to 12 months. With a 1 page document on the outcomes of this meeting to be distributed to all the working groups members by the working group lead or co-lead.
2. A strategy session on SuSanA as a whole
During this session representatives from SuSanA partner organisations and SuSanA members should discuss the future of SuSanA. Topics like communication strategy, the alliance's impact, the value SuSanA provides to its partners and members, how do and how should partners and members contribute to the alliance. The aim of this session would be to arrive at a set of practicle steps that both SuSanA partners and members can implement to further grow SuSanA into the best network / resource / knowledge platform on sustainable sanitation, for all to use and to ultimately improve the lives of a few billion people without adequate access to sanitation.
Those are just two ideas from me.
Please critices constructively.

P.S. Any ideas on a networking activity?

16th SuSanA meeting in Stockholm (with feedback)
Two months to go until the next SuSanA meeting! Our 16th meeting will be held in conjunction with the World Water Week in Stockholm and is hosted by our SuSanA partner Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) who have hosted 5 SuSanA meetings in Stockholm already (thank you for that!!). The dates for our meeting are the Friday 31 August (most likely afternoon, exact time to be confirmed) and Saturday 1 Sept. (whole day). We are currently shaping up the agenda, please get in touch with us if you are planning to attend and are keen to become part of the agenda!
We will progressively update the information about the meeting here:
www.susana.org/lang-en/meetings/16th-sus...ing-stockholm-sweden
We are open to your suggestions as to content, timing and format of the SuSanA meeting.
If you haven't been to a SuSanA meeting before, see here for information on the past 15 SuSanA meetings:
www.susana.org/meetings
The leads of the SuSanA working groups are encouraged to get in touch with their respective working groups and organise working group meetings, if possible already in parallel to the World Water Week.
Regards,
Elisabeth
