Re: SuSanA 20th meeting in Stockholm !

Hi Moderators!

Could anyone urgently compile a VERY SHORT summary (100 words) of the SuSanA 20th meeting held in Stockholm, Sweden on 22 August 2015 and on 27 August where an open working group exchange took place? A couple of high resolution images will do.

We intend to publish this short report somewhere in the oncoming Sept-Oct 2015 edition of the Africa Water, Sanitation & Hygiene unless an objection is raised about it.

Kind regards / Mwaniki

Re: News and live stream of the 20th SuSanA meeting tomorrow! (Saturday, 22 August)

Dear participants of the 20th SuSanA meeting,

I would like to thank all of you for joining and participating in our meeting. It was a very inspiring day with excellent inputs on a variety of topics and giving us important messages along the way: Endavouring sector coordination, buidling knowledge management and partnership into our performance and learning plans, failing forward and learning by unpacking the reasons..

A special thanks to SEI for hosting this event and making sure that people around the world could join by watching the livestream! It was amazing to see the huge amount of tweets throughout the meeting.

The video files and presentations of the SuSanA meeting will be soon available on the SuSanA platform www.susana.org/en/events/susana-meetings...na-meeting-stockholm

We are looking forward to meeting you at the 21th SuSanA meeting in 2016!

Re: News and live stream of the 20th SuSanA meeting tomorrow! (Saturday, 22 August)

Dear online-participants,

This year, unfortunately, the 20th SuSanA meeting remains the only SuSanA event with live streaming. For those who are interested in watching and listening to other Stockholm events, please click here to follow the World Water Week via virtual attendance.

Best regards,
Jona

Re: News and live stream of the 20th SuSanA meeting tomorrow! (Saturday, 22 August)

Dear Brian (and Chris (Canaday)) and all,

I am glad you also caught the live streaming from the 20th SuSanA meeting. I spent almost my entire Saturday "attending" it and it was great. I guess the full potential was realised for people who also use twitter as that was the most practical way of sending in questions. I was thrilled when Trevor took about 2-3 of my questions that I sent via twitter and posed them to the presenters (but questions could have also been sent by e-mail).

I wonder how many people attended the live streaming. I think there might have been a few limitations there which might have prevented wider attendance this year:
  1. Time difference - as not everyone would be as dedicated as you to get up in the middle of the night when the time difference is 7 hours or more! ;-) Nothing can be done about that.
  2. Internet access during a non-working day. As has been pointed out from a SuSanA member from Indonesia here , not everyone has internet access outside of working hours. I know SuSanA meetings are traditionally/often on a weekend day, but that's a limitation for some people.
  3. Slow internet connection speed - although here it was really encouraging to hear that Chris Canada was able to follow it from Ecuador and I know he is on a slow connection.
  4. Still insufficient advertising about the live streaming; perhaps an e-mail could have been sent to all SuSanA members to make them aware that it's on (the day before).
Well, live streaming is the way of the future, so we can improve for next year!

The camera work of the Swedish film crew was superb, everything was clear, and different angles and zooms made it interesting to watch.

The recording will soon be available here: www.susana.org/en/events/susana-meetings...na-meeting-stockholm
so you can then see for yourself.

Brian: to answer your question, I don't think there are plans to have the working group meetings this week live streamed. I guess the costs would be too high for such "smaller" meetings.

Evelyn: I liked the flyer of relevant events that you put together for this week in Stockholm here:
www.susana.org/images/documents/04-meeti...WWW-flyer_JT%203.pdf
Could you please also indicate which ones have live streaming (with links to Outlook calendar entries so that we can put them in our diaries)? I know that the larger events at Stockholm World Water Week, or those where the convenors pay (?), are streamed these days.

Regards,
Elisabeth

Re: News and live stream of the 20th SuSanA meeting tomorrow! (Saturday, 22 August)

Dear all

Thanks to Susan Davis for her presentation on "Failing forwards" at the 20th SuSanA meeting.*
For those attending SWWW and are interested in the topic, please join us also for the seminar on
Tuesday 16.00 (FH 202) called

Mistakes to successes: Learning from errors
co-conveyned by HELVETAS, cewas, Sandec and the Swiss Water Partnership...

programme.worldwaterweek.org/event/4698

Making errors is an important element of development processes. Identifying errors requires systematic learning and evaluation processes. Moreover, turning errors into successes calls for appropriate mechanisms, including close collaboration between research and practice enabling the development and testing of new approaches. Even though organisations’ willingness to openly communicate on errors cannot be taken for granted as this could jeopardize their reputation, a paradigm shift in how errors are considered can be observed.

Re: 20th SuSanA Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, 22nd August 2015

The online version of the 20th SuSanA meeting was very good, highly accessible and good coverage online.
Would it be possible to arrange for the WG1 meeting thursday to also be avialable via conference call or dial in or online capability?

Re: 20th SuSanA meeting on 22 August - Feedback

Dear SuSanA community,

Are you also questioning yourself how to navigate best through the programme of the World Water Week?

The SuSanA Secretariat has compiled a flyer of all SuSanA events and partner of SuSanA events during the World Water Week which is now available for download . This will help you to get an overview of many exciting sessions and events around sustainable sanitation!

And don’t forget - For everyone who wishes to attend the 20th SuSanA meeting but is not able to, we made available a live stream link that you could find in the 20th SuSanA Meeting homepage . Just be sure of having a good internet connection.

Kind Regards,

Evelyn, on behalf of the SuSanA secretariat
