SFD and SDG monitoring? (potential links between shit flow diagrams and Sustainable Development Goals monitoring)

Hi,

after quite a while I had a look at the SFD portal and I'm quite impressed! A lot of work has been done meanwhile and its amazing to see how many cities are already covered.

One thing I wondered is how useful the method may be for monitoring the SDG goal 6.3 " By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.

On the first glance, it seems the SFDs cover well the part with the "proportion of untreated wastewater", while the "safe reuse" seems not yet to be included.

Of course the SFDs are for city level, not country level as needed for SDG monitoring, and they only cover domestic wastewater, not industrial. But still, the SFDs could be very useful for cities to measure how they are on track towards the SDGs... Or perhaps the SFDs could also be adapted for being used on country level?

So I wonder how much you have already thought about or put work into making the SFDs suitable to be a tool for SDG monitoring? How much do the details of the SFD methods match the definitions of the SDG indicators (which are of course also still work in progress, the current state of discussion here )?

Best regards,
Florian
