Re: Publications on Impacts of Heatwaves on Water and Sanitation
Dear Elisabeth,
Thanks for the response. I already have that publication. Perhaps, I got it from the earlier reference, you mentioned.
Lets wait and see, how other users respond.
Regards,
F H Mughal

Re: Publications on Impacts of Heatwaves on Water and Sanitation
Dear Mughal,
Do you mean heatwaves in connection with global warming? If so, then this publication would be useful for you:
"WaSH services and climate change" working-document by ps-Eau
www.pseau.org/en/wash-climate-change
On page 15 is says about effects of heatwaves (Impact on Service Operations and Infrastructure):
Biological treatment
processes fail to function
(certain bacteria die)
Condition of
infrastructure and
facilities deteriorate due
to the heat
Concrete structures
deteriorate due to the
increased production of
hydrogen sulfide2
(H2S)
I came across this document while reviewing a forum reply by Colette to you here: forum.susana.org/195-climate-change-and-...ort-from-cop23#23664

Karachi and other cities of Sindh, Pakistan, are currently massive heatwave, with temperatures around 46-49 degrees C. The other day, temperature in Larkana and Nawabshah (cities in Sindh) was whooping 51 degrees C.
Can anyone guide me on the publications on the impacts of heatwaves on water (drinking water treatment plants, and water distribution systems), and sanitation (wastewater treatment plants, and sewerage system) facilities?
