Re: Water and sanitation access in France.
Bonjour Cecile.
Thanks for providing these links. I contacted Toilettes du Monde by email with no reply yet. It appears that they are a version of the French Toilet Association, but I was not able to find any contacts for a French Toilet Association directly. Likewise, I had not heard of RAE, and I'll be contacting them shortly.
Additionally, I had not heard of the Rom settlement in Montrieul. So thanks for letting me know. I found the Rom Europe coalition website and many contacts in Paris there. Again, thanks for your input. It's so useful to have a place like SuSanA to ask others for advice around sanitation globally!
Best Regards.
Abby

Greetings, Florian.
Thanks much for providing me with this fabulous contact. The "Anne Le Strat" presentation is quite forward-thinking, and it seems rare for city officials to be talking about and acting upon such issues (e.g. distribution of jerry cans to those without homes) in the "Global North." In the United States, city officials are often not addressing issues of social access to water and sanitation. Yes, I will also check with Catarina de Albuquerque. Great ideas all around. Thanks again.
Best Regards.

Bonjour Abby,
Dear Abby,
You could consult the websites of these two organisations : Toilettes du Monde and Réseau d'Assainissement Ecologique (RAE)regarding the issues of sanitation. I believe they have ran a project to provide dry toilets to the Rom in the past.
If you are in Paris, you may already know that there is an important Rom settlement in the nearby city of Montreuil. I am sure you can find several associations working with them and also there is certainly someone in charge of these issues in the townhal (mairie.

Hi Abby,
some time ago I heard an interesting presentation by Anne Le Strat, head of Paris Water Supply: www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/env/water/me..._-_Anne_Le_Strat.pdf
Contacing her would be a good start I think.
And of course Catarina de Albuquerque will be able to point you to organisations and people as well: sr-watersanitation.ohchr.org/en/contacts.html
Best regards,
Florian

You need to login to replyWater and sanitation access in France, exclusion issues in advanced capitalist countries
Hi SuSanA members.
I am a graduate student at UC Santa Cruz in the United States studying in Paris from June 2014 to September 2014.
I am looking for people and/or organizations here focusing on issues such as: (1) urban planning, water, and sanitation; (2) homelessness; (3) Roma advocacy; or (3) general water and sanitation concerns.
Do you work on these issues in France? Do you know anyone working on these issues in France? If so, I'd love to speak with you more. My email is ablbrown [at] ucsc [dot] edu.
My research focuses on exclusion around water and sanitation in "advanced capitalist countries" (e.g. US, France, and England), and I'm currently conducting preliminary explorations in Paris.
Thanks for fielding this message.

Cordialement.
