Workshop Date: 18th November 2018
Venue : Taj Lands End Hotel, Bandra West, Mumbai
Over the past few weeks NIUA has initiated work on "Developing a Perspective on Decentralised Sanitation Systems and Integration with Academia” by supporting the following range of start up interventions with some of you. These include : Integration within regular curriculum of UG and PG courses, Studio and Field Work, new Elective Course, Thesis and starting new Short Professional Courses for professionals. We are pleased to have 9 partners on board for this year.
We see this engagement as mutually beneficial for NIUA and our partners, as well as academia. We are keen to learn how academia views decentralised sanitation from its perspective and contributes to the larger knowledge and discourse: social and administrative, technology, regulation and policy prescriptions for addressing the growing urban sanitation challenge. We don’t see academia as trainers but as partners in discovering and developing the larger perspective to urban decentralised sanitation in the urban planning framework. We look forward to the academia to contribute through its core strengths of highly qualified teachers and researchers and your ability for cross learning among different departments, the government, urban local bodies and policy makers and also private sector. For this we encourage universities to organise learning events and to also participate in other national learning events.
All our academia engagement and presentations are uploaded on SCBP portal : scbp.niua.org under the portal link : scbp.niua.org/academia-engagement
Ecosan Services Foundation(ESF) and National Institute of Urban Affairs(NIUA) are organising a National Workshop : Forging a Collaborative Agenda for Decentralised Sanitation Capacity Building and Research
We are holding this as a learning event, prior to the international meet on 19-20th Nov World Toilet Summit.
Participation will be by invitation. We are expecting Universities, National Training Institutes, Researchers, Practitioners and select Officials from Urban Local Bodies participating in this learning event. Alongwith participation from Bangladesh, Nepal and some south East Asian Countries.
Kindly check the attached Brochure and Agenda of the Workshop.
