How to tackle Inefficiencies in Water Services in a Low-Carbon Future?
7 June 2018, 16:00 – 17:00 CET
Target Audience
Utility staff worldwide, with a particular focus on utilities in emerging economies; water professionals advising utilities or aspiring to become advisors on climate mitigation; climate professionals interested in carbon accounting.
Description
Climate change is aggravating the challenges that water and wastewater utilities face. At the same time the supply of water and the treatment of used water lead to substantial greenhouse gas emissions. This is largely due to water loss and inefficiencies in the urban water systems. In this webinar the participants will learn about the “Energy Performance and Carbon Emissions Assessment and Monitoring (ECAM) tool. This free open-source, web-based tool informs water and wastewater utilities on which solutions across the urban water cycle have the biggest impact to improve their service, while reducing emissions in and potentially lowering costs.
Learning Objectives
– Understand the interrelation between climate change and the water cycle.
– Learn how to use ECAM and identify opportunities that can help utilities improve their service performance.
– Understand functionalities, types of data and results analysis, which will be illustrated via case studies.
– Get started on the use of the ECAM tool and consider using it in their professional activities.
Host
Aaron Burton, Director of Policy and Innovation, Waterwise
Panelists
• Lluis Corominas, Research Scientist, Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA)
• Carlos Espino, Project Manager, Watergy
• Jose Porro, Founder Cobalt Water Global
