Harvard Edx Free Online Course on Global Health (Check out their promo video which features two photos from the SuSanA Flickr page!)
Harvard edX (an initiative which is led by MIT and Harvard and offers free online courses) is offering a free online course on global health 'Global Health: Case Studies from a Biosocial Perspective', and features several experts in global health, including Paul Farmer and Arthur Kleinman!
So where’s the connection to sanitation? Check out the first 30 seconds of this promo video and you just may recognize two photos from the SuSanA Flickr page!
This course is focusing on a biosocial perspective – an approach which addresses the social determinants of health - recognizing that health is affected by the environment, culture, political atmosphere etc... where the sanitation situation is an important determinant of health.
The themes of the course include global awareness, a grounding in social and historical analysis, an ethical engagement, and a sense of inspiration and possibility.
Classes Start: 25 Feb 2014
Course Length: 12 weeks
Estimated effort: 4 hours/week
