Re: Human urine, an agricultural fertilizer

Hi Eric,
I completely agree that urine fertilizer is working very well in conjunction with compost.  You will find some of my recent experiences in Germany concerning Central European fruits, in particular, under that link:
forum.susana.org/urine-treatment/25964-c...nutrient-cycle#35136
Earlier, I have worked in Uganda where I have promoted ecological sanitation toilets in Adjumani in the North.  You will find attached the recommendations that were developed over the years in that regard.  It includes application rates for both compost and urine.
@Loures, I would agree that the direct use of urine as a fertilizer (after some time of storage for hygienization if need be) is more for a smaller scale, but let us start with a small scale first before we think of a large scale!  After that we can think of concentrates, or granules, or even of pumping treated waste water on a larger scale, or whatever.
Kind regards, H-A

Re: Human urine, an agricultural fertilizer

Hi Bhaskar,
Thanks but it's not in our plan. Target is only fertilizer.
Our project focuses on creating a revolutionary fertilizer by combining compost and nitrified urine, followed by fermentation. This unique method enriches the soil, boosts plant growth, and supports environmental sustainability. It's an innovative approach for productive and planet-friendly agriculture.

Re: Human urine, an agricultural fertilizer

Hi

Have you considered using Urine in water to grow Diatom Algae and Fish?
This is simpler than using Urine as agricultural fertilizer.

You just need to pipe the sewage to a tank or pond or lagoon and grow Diatom Algae and Fish.
The tank / pond / lagoon volume has to be about 30 days of daily sewage flow.
So if daily sewage flow is about 1,000 liters, tank volume needs to be about 30,000 liters.
Clean technology promoter.

I am working on a clean technology product to grow Diatom Algae in large waterways. Diatoms account for about 25% of all photosynthesis on Earth and hence are the best solution to consume CO2, N and P and oxygenate water and feed fish.

I am a Chartered Accountant but am now an entrepreneur focussed on clean technology.

Re: Human urine, an agricultural fertilizer

Thanks Lourdes,
Yes this can be realy interesting if we can have Cost-Benefit Analysis document.
Regarding solid product, we plan to create another project very soon, but to begin liquid product is our only solution (nitrification and fermention of urine can be only liquid). "solid product is much more accepted than the application of a liquid product" does it come from your own experience our same vision as most countries ?

Re: Human urine, an agricultural fertilizer

We have implemented a urine treatment plant in the city of Alto in the department of La Paz in Bolivia.
Because the cost of transporting a solid product is much more economical than the transport and marketing of a liquid product. And the same application of a solid product is much more accepted than the application of a liquid product.
When we have the Cost-Benefit Analysis document from that experience, we will translate it into English and share it with you. Meanwhile I share the video 1 and video 2  of the Urine Plant.

Human urine, an agricultural fertilizer

In Madagascar, as in many developing countries, waste management and food security are major challenges. In a context where access to toilets and adequate sanitation systems remains limited, especially in disadvantaged rural and urban areas, an opportunity presents itself: transforming human urine, often an ignored or poorly managed waste, into a valuable resource for agriculture . We need some help with our crowdfunding: fundrazr.com/EcoFertilys-Madagascar

For months, we have been working on several theoretical approaches that we are now developing with our biologist. Our main goal is to partially fund a real research laboratory with these funds .
Thus, we will be able to quickly provide research results to various donors to move to a stage of large-scale collection and production.

Another crowdfunding: www.crowdify.net/en/project/from-urine-to-abundance

Any help is welcome !
