Hi Daphne,

Biomass Controls PBC is working to develop a safe disposal technology in partnership with Brown University. I posted an announcement in the MHH forum, here is the link: forum.susana.org/24-menstrual-hygiene-ma...al-partnership#33554

We would be happy to share more information as we celebrate MH Day 2022!

Re: The road to Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022 - Call for stories, experiences, and ideas!

Ok Super.

Can I send you some Urinette at the SUSANA office ?

Please contact me with your adress.

In France I just started selling initiation kits on our website.

sevellia.com/jardin-bricolage/kit-oriaz-...ne-fertilisante.html

My first idea for the Urinette design was Urine Fertilizer Recovery.

But the Urinette is also a practical solution for emergency situations or for women who lack access to toilets.

We pee 5 times a day and this part of the job can be privately resolved at low cost using a personnal Urinette.

The urinette can be used anywhere with just a privacy space.
The added Iron wil not be a problem because it adds minerals to the plants.

But I can not try it myself :-)

I will get some Urinette for your SUSANA team to test in Germany.

Cheers

Robert

Re: The road to Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022 - Call for stories, experiences, and ideas!

Dear Robert Cossette,

thank you for sharing your project and raising your question! There already seems to be some website articles out there that report on the use of menstrual blood for plants, but not much research. It would be very interesting to learn more about the benefits of using menstrual blood as a natural fertilizer, along with urine, and also learn more about the chemical/nutrient composition of menstrual blood.

If you make further experiences with this in your project, we would be happy if you would share them with the community.

Thank you!

Kind regards,
The SuSanA Secretariat

Re: The road to Mentrual Hygiene Day 2022 - Call for stories, experiences, and ideas!

Of course I'm not the best person to talk about menstruation.

But I have a question for you because I work on the valuation of urine for plants.

During menstruation, there will probably also be some blood or secretions collected.

I don't think it would be dangerous.

On the contrary, these residues would probably add iron and other fertilizing minerals.

What do you think ?

You can see the urinette on this link:  forum.susana.org/158-general-announcemen...-unisex-urinal#33515

The Urinette has already been tested by around 40 women in France.

Best Regards

Robert Cossette

The road to Menstrual Hygiene Day 28th May 2022 - Call for stories, experiences, and ideas!

Dear SuSanA members and friends,

we want to invite you all to join the important global awareness campaign -  the Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022!

2022 is another important year for Menstrual Health and Hygiene and once again #ItsTimeForAction. The Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated the menstruation-related challenges women and girls face around the world. As we’re starting to see the light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel, we need to make sure that MHH receives the action and investment it deserves in the post-pandemic recovery.

With 28 May approaching fast, we at SuSanA would like to help you to make the most out of MH Day 2022 for your programmes and projects.

For that, we invite you to share your (social media) campaigns, resources, images, stories and planned activities for this years MH Day. We are also collecting your activities and experiences  from previous MH Days, because we want to share these stories with the SuSanA Community in the next MH Day special edition SuSanA Newsletter! So...
  • What was or will your MH Day activities be about?
  • What experiences did you make in the previous years?
  • Which lessons or ideas would you like to share?
