ACF paper on WASH and Nutrition Causal Analysis has been awarded as best Waterlines Journal paper 2017 - call for support in finalising the WASH Nutrition elearning modules

Dear WASH and Nutrition colleagues,

Each year the publishers of the journal Practical Action Publishing / Waterlines supports an award for the best paper in the previous calendar year. ACF paper on WASH & Nutrition Causal Analysis (NCA) presenting where WASH sector stands as undernutrition determinant, published in the October 2017 issue, has been selected as the prize-winner for 2017, over the 21 papers published in 2017.

The selection committee noted that the paper addressed an issue of high public health importance (childhood undernutrition) from a multi-sectoral perspective that included but was not confined to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). The paper presents a novel mixed methods tool for assessing locally specific causes of undernutrition as a basis for practical recommendations regarding coordinated multi-sectoral interventions. The selection committee felt that the ACF article reflects this commitment to evidence-based practice in the WASH sector, highlighting its high relevance to practice or policy in the water, sanitation, waste and hygiene sectors in low- and middle-income countries, as well as its high quality.

The five ACF authors: Jovana Dodos, Blanche Mattern, Jean Lapegue, Mathias Altmann and Myriam Ait Aissa are delighted to share this news with you all, as it also brings visibility on integrated approaches and WASH effect in tackling undernutrition.
The paper (online and downloadable pdf) can be found here:

In line with this global WASH’Nutrition dynamics, ACF is still looking for 20,000 euros to finalise the last 2 modules of the set of 6 elearning modules on how to integrate practically WASH and Nutrition (online open access interactive training, French and English). If you are interested in contributing to the project, even for a smaller amount, and against visibility for your organisation, or if you want to know more about this capacity building project, please contact our colleague Jovana Dodos, the project coordinator: This email address is being protected from spambots.
