Cambodia - promoting handwashing
Dear all,
As you may have heard, the first elements of our multimedia handwashing campaign are now broadcasting! There's a link to the first three radio spots at this link, with thanks to SNV for use of their material, and the others will follow soon: goo.gl/IpO8R2 . We invite you to listen out for on Radio Bayon 95 FM and on FM 103. (More frequencies below)
Staff, volunteers and/or partners may wish to download these to use in any kind of awareness-raising activities related to handwashing.
As well as the 60-second radio and television spots, a series of radio drama and ‘call-in’ shows began at 6pm on Monday on Bayon FM. There will also be a television show; and a mobile 'IVR' platform for people to hear information any time they want. Also, please see attached some social media messages that you could distribute among your own Facebook pages etc.
What are we trying to achieve with all this? As you know, handwashing with soap before eating and after using the toilet could save more lives in Cambodia than any other medical intervention. The challenge is to transform this from an abstract idea into an automatic behaviour in homes, schools and communities across the nation.
And not only must we encourage good practice across the nation, especially in schools, but we must continue working together with Government, NGOs, Development Partners and the private sector. We’d like to ensure that every child and every household have access to clean water and soap, and know how and when to use them to prevent disease.
Activities in Cambodia will carry on until the end of November, and an invitation to a briefing event is coming soon.
Please also see the Facebook page to learn more and to download information and radio shows.
