Invitation: Collaboration opportunities in water, food and climate in the MENA region

Dear SuSaNa Forum members,

For the first time, the AGUASAN Workshop , an annual global learning event of the Swiss water anddevelopment community, took place outside of Switzerland, focusing on WaterManagement in Times of Climate Change: Finding actionable solutions for fragile contexts in the Middle East. With the aim to co-create potential actionablesolutions for water-climate issues highly relevant for the region, 35 water, climate and food practitioners, including SDC staff and key partners from Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Türkiye and Switzerland, intensively collaborated in 5 thematic expert groups during the 5-days workshop. Check out the Workshop results for potential collaborations:

  • AGUASANWorkshop report
  • Results summaries with potential solutions by the 5experts groups - feel free to contact them directly:
  1. Wastewater treatment and reuse
  2. Groundwater resources management
  3. Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems(WEFE) nexus
  4. Impact of multi-dimensional water scarcity on food security
  5. Smart WASH approach for refugee camps and host communities: harvesting rainwater!
We are delighted that by bringing together water, climate and food experts fromthe Middle East and Switzerland, the AGUASAN workshop has acted as a catalyst to create potential solutions in the region and would like to thank all participants for their excellent engagement as well as the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) regional office in Jordan for hosting and
supporting the event.
