3 blogs on sanitation financing and marketing (including Zambia and Malawi focus)

Dear friends and colleagues,

We're pleased to share three recently published blogs focused on sanitation financing and marketing.

Smart sanitation finance seven years on!

Andy Robinson and Mike Gnilo reflect on the successes and challenges of sanitation financing in large-scale rural sanitation programming since 2016. They summarise the pros and cons of smart subsidies, results-based financing, area-wide approaches and long-term monitoring of access and use.

CLTS and sanitation marketing: experiences and learning from Malawi

What has worked for sanitation and hygiene in Malawi in the past 7 years? Twitty Munkhondia reflects on challenges, successes and ways forward for large-scale rural sanitation and hygiene programming in Malawi.

Lessons from sanitation marketing field experiences in Zambia

Warren Simangolwa's recent SLH blog talks about how sanitation marketing is still often missing in sanitation demand creation strategies in Zambia. Relying too heavily on CLTS enforcement creates sustainability problems in the long-term.  He suggests that there is a need to share learning around successful sanitation marketing experiences that empower community members.

What are your thoughts on these issues? Please share your experience and ideas.
Best wishes
