Re: We are getting a better editor for the forum soon: "What you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) and other bug fixes

Dear Steffen,

Thank you for your response. I hope it will be clearer for the other users on the forum. We are currently having some posts that have
statements that are hanging only for them to continue as though it is a new paragraph on the next line. Maybe we might need to sensitize the forum users more.

Regards

Re: We are getting a better editor for the forum soon: "What you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) and other bug fixes

Hi Paresh,

thank you for pointing that out with the list points. I was now able to reproduce the formatting problem with the lists in the Edge Browser.  Despite line breaks, everything above the selected text becomes list items too. The only thing that helps here is to mark the too much changed text again and remove the list with the list button. Here I would rather hope for future updates of Edge, because all other common browsers do this correctly.

With best regards

Re: We are getting a better editor for the forum soon: "What you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) and other bug fixes

Hi Charlotte,

yes there was a preview function, but it only converted the BBCode to HTML.  Now you can practically see the other way round and switch back on the right side to BBCode the reverse version.
Unfortunately, the preview couldn't give you the final output if you copied formatted text from Word into it. The only thing that helps is writing directly in the editor or using the "Remove format" button as described above.

Dear Steffen,

Thank you for the work you have put in to make the editor more user friendly. Initially we had the preview option for someone to review their work before they post, could that still be incorporated? It will really help especially with avoiding posts that are not well formatted if they have been copy pasted from word.

Re: Test Editor Styles

Hi Steffen,
I don't understand your post. Was it just to try out the different formatting options? Were you able to solve the problem that Paresh had reported: "I don't think numbering or bullets is working well (I use MS edge). I only wanted to bullet the text 'bullet 1, bullet 2' , but the entire post gets them."

By the way for everyone: there is a button at the top right of the editor window which says [BBCODE]. If you click on that you can see the code behind your text. If there is a flaw in your post, this might help you to sort things out, e.g. with attachments or bullet points.

Regards,
Elisabeth

Re: We have a better editor for the forum now: "What you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) - upgrade to latest version of Kunena

Hello Paresh,

this is unfortunately not possible, because every program has its own style properties and these are tried to be adopted when copying. However, these are not defined on our website, for example, or only via browser standard properties or they are not even available as properties. This can then lead to a very unattractive appearance. That's why all newer WYSIWYG editors actually have a "Remove format" function. This can be applied to selected text with the rightmost button in the editor's toolbar. It should work in 95% of all cases. But especially text from old MS Word versions are sometimes a bit stubborn, in this case it only helps to copy the text into a plain text editor like the Windows standard editor and then into the forum editor.

I hope it helps. Best regards
Steffen

Re: We have a better editor for the forum now: "What you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) - upgrade to latest version of Kunena

Hello Steffen.
When one copies text from a word file, it needs to be formatted all over again in the editor. Is it possible to copy text with formatting? For long posts, this takes a lot of time.

Thanks
paresh

Thank you for the remarks. There will certainly be improvements needed here and there, and you can help to discover them. You are welcome to report this here and we will try to correct it from time to time.

Re: We are getting a better editor for the forum soon: "What you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) and other bug fixes

Hi Steffen
Now on  a PC in Chrome. The toolbox ribbon is at the top where it should be.
Still difficult to release the subscript when typing in stream X2 .
But works alright by going back, highlighting the number to be sub- or super-scripted and then clicking on the tool "X2"  or X2"

Otherwise all the other tools work well.
