Re: Illustrated Safety Guidelines for Sanitary Workers (select categories)
Thanks, Paresh.
Glad you noticed the gender bit- yes, it was intentional. We toyed with the idea of representing the de-sludging operator as a woman too - but felt that it would at this juncture be too alien for majority of de-sludgers who are men, and thought a pandemic was not the best time to challenge all notions. But for others, as far as possible, we tried not to reinforce gender norms.

Dear Ms KAVITA of TNUSSP,
We wish to give our special appreciation to you for compiling and sending detailed guidelines to be followed by 3 categories of sanitation workers.
Even though, you have indicated that all guidelines and instructions are for during the present COVID situation, it could be taken for accepted after COVID time also.
The 7 Nos docs given as attachment are very detailed, and would more than serve the purpose intended for sanitation workers.
Well wishes to you and your team at TNUSSP..

Re: Illustrated Safety Guidelines for Sanitary Workers (select categories)
Dear Kavita,
Thank you for preparing and sharing this very important tool.
The guidelines are very detailed, written in a lucid language and adapted for each actor along the FSM service chain. I like the fact and would like to point out that the guidelines do not perpetuate gender-roles. I am curious to know if this is by design?
Thanks
paresh

Illustrated Safety Guidelines for Sanitary Workers (select categories)
Hi all,
We have prepared a simple set of safety guidelines for select set of sanitary workers during COVID 19. These are for :
1. Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP) operators
2. De-sludging operators
3. Community Toilet Cleaners
There is an additional set of guidelines for FSTP operations.
These are being translated into Indian languages, and will be available on tnussp.co.in ( muzhusugadharam.co.in/ ) as and when ready.
I have uploaded the illustrations, and since the images are contextual to India, plain word pdfs too. Please use as appropriate. If you need open files etc., please message me.
