Your lobbying needed: including gender indicators into the SDG targets 6.2 and 6.3
Dear all,
The SDG negotiations on targets and indicators are in a final stage and there is the need to make sure that the targets 6.2 and 6.3 will be gender sensitive.
During the Stockholm World Water Week a number of members of the SuSanA Working Group 7 on Gender met to prepare and hold an event on gender sensitive indicators for sanitation and wastewater planning and implementation (goal 6.2 and 6.3).

The outcome of the event and follow up meeting is a set of recommendations as well as proposed indicators.
Please find the proposed indicators below or attached.
To influence the decision process on UN level to integrate key gender equality measures we would kindly ask you to
- submit them to the UN, following this link unstats.un.org/sdgs/iaeg-sdgs/open-consu...on-stakeholders.html
- contact your national country representative and lobby the for inclusion if the proposed indicators
The deadline for submission from civil society, NGOs and academia is 7 September 2015 (just extended for 3 three days longer).
We think it is crucial to ensure that the needs of women and girls are at the heart of SDG implementations.
To ensure that, we need to lobby now.
Or as Uschi Eid (UNSGAB) said in our event: “What is not being measured is not going to be done!”
With that we hope you agree to the proposed indicators and lobby for them online and in your country.
Warm greetings,
Maren Heuvels, BORDA
and Claudia Wendland, WECF
