Re: Innovation Grant Programme: Call for concept notes

Thanks Amos. I understand being early in the process. Step by step after all.

I ask because I work with iDE and we doing Sanitation work in Zambia. We develop markets for sanitation in the countries where we work - building capacity of private sector actors to produce/sell latrines, training commission based sales agents, generating local demand. Your technology seems interesting but given our market-based approach, its essential that (i) customers WANT the product and are willing to pay for it, and (ii) the private sector can produce it. So just trying to get a sense of your techs potential. I will stay tuned!

Re: Innovation Grant Programme: Call for concept notes

Dear BlakeMcK,

I am not sure of the cost and am somewhat in the design stage. It is quite basic and the cost should not be very high if made efficiently and locally. My goal is to create good instructions to share so they can be made locally. I should make a cad file of the toilet available in various formats for those who want to make it. The dimensions would naturally be there and each part could be seen and measured in 3D. I use Sketchup, which has a free version which would work good for such. Hopefully I will get that done as well. Thanks for your interest.

Re: Innovation Grant Programme: Call for concept notes

Dear Juliet Tembo,

Thanks for your post. Could you kindly see the Hygienic Earth Block And Flush Toilet I am working on as given at this link dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16411607/Hestroom10.pdf . Further www.LiftUpThePoor.net shows many related designs I have been working on.

Hopefully sometime I will get some needed assistance on this sanitation project. But regardless of such my aim is to simply help the many suffering because of a lack of sanitation provisions. Thus hopefully the various toilet designs which I have been seeking to perfect and which I feel could do much good, will in some manner soon get out to those who need them.

Kind Regards

Innovation Grant Programme: Call for concept notes

Dear all,

The Innovation Grant Program for Pro-poor Service Delivery is a competitive grant and partnership program that is being implemented by the Millennium Challenge Account-Zambia (MCA-Zambia) with funding provided by the Millennium Challenge Corporation under a Compact signed between the Governments of the United States of America and the Republic of Zambia.

The program will disburse up to the equivalent of US$ 6.25 million in grants to innovations in water supply, sanitation and solid waste management.

The Program hopes to inspire innovators to propose projects that solve problems in water supply, sanitation, and solid waste management through a process that is competitive, transparent, and accountable. In addition, including the poor, women, and other vulnerable groups (social and gender inclusion) and promoting environmental awareness and regulatory compliance as well as worker health and safety are some of the core values or main principles of the program.

Best,

Juliet Tembo
