Re: Looking for behaviour change expert/psychologist
Hi Anna,
This is just to share with you a couple of recent scientific work on psychological aspects related to excreta and their use for productive purposes.
I co-authored the first paper with psychologist Paul Slovic and colleagues at Decision Research: Risk and benefit judgment of excreta as fertilizer in agriculture: An exploratory investigation in Rwanda and Uganda. In Human and Ecological Risk Assessment: An International Journal Volume 22, Issue 3, 2016
Available at: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/10807039.2015.1100515
The other paper is written by psychologists Paul Rozin, Paul Slovic and other colleagues: Psychological aspects of the rejection of recycled water: Contamination, purification and disgust. Judgment and Decision Making, Vol. 10, No. 1, January 2015, pp. 50–63.
I also attach both papers.
These should be useful as you prepare for this important seminar at the World Water Week.
Best wishes,

Hi Anna
On Sunday Aug 28 we will be holding a session at World Water Week titled: "Sigmund Freud - The missing link in water and sanitation?" One of the speakers is Thomas Regier a psychologist specialising in this topic. Maybe you can contact him.

Looking for behaviour change expert/psychologist
Dear all,
During Stockholm World Water Week, UN-Water will organize a session on wastewater – the theme of World Water Day 2017.
In this session, we will show the value of reusing wastewater. Speakers range from an astronaut who will explain how wastewater is reused in space to two examples from countries that are already reusing wastewater: Singapore and Jordan.
To get the discussion going with the audience we would like to invite someone who is an expert in behaviour change – a psychologist? - to talk about how to overcome the ‘yuck factor’ with wastewater. It can of course also be someone who has experience in working with overcoming yuck factors.
Does anyone have any tips?
Thanks in advance!
Anna Nylander
