Re: [Wg7] Collecting good case studies of sustainable sanitation in schools and kindergartens from all over the world

Dear Claudia,

Good luck with the second edition of the WASH in Schools story book!
I am glad you are also thinking of an online version (Wiki); as that would be open access, it should be fairly easy to also move content across to Wikipedia from that Wiki page later.

We have a page on WASH in Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WASH), which still needs a bit more work; we could also think about starting one on "WASH in Schools".

One new example that seems to me worth including is this one about UDDTs at a school in Ukunda, Kenya. Doreen recently visited it, three years after inauguration, and had only positive things to report, see here:

Regards,
Elisabeth

Re: [Wg7] Collecting good case studies of sustainable sanitation in schools and kindergartens from all over the world

Dear all,

I am very glad to announce that the second edition of the SuSanA WASH in Schools stories is ready and will be launched on the SuSanA meeting at Stockholm WWW by end of this month. Afterwards it will be available online as well.

As not all stories which were sent in response to the call could be included in this publication, they will be made available in a SuSanA online Wiki on WASH in Schools. The wiki will be a growing online collection on best practices around sustainable sanitation. The establishment of the WASH in Schools section of the wiki is another activity in the working group 7.

Best regards
Claudia

Re: [Wg7] Collecting good case studies of sustainable sanitation in schools and kindergartens from all over the world

Hello Roy,

the WASH in Schools programme in Kerala as well as the broader initiative "good hygiene practices" are very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Would you be interested to publish this project in a story-like format in the second edition of the publication "Making WASH in Schools more Sustainable" (please see www.susana.org/en/resources/library/details/2077 ) ?
The stories of the upcoming edition will be clustered around different topics. Amongst others we will focus on promising upscaling approaches and strategies, so it might be an option to feature this aspect of your story.

Best regards, I would be pleased to hear from you!

Re: Compiling SuSanA school sanitation success stories in a publication

Dear Steve Mecca,

my name is Isabell. I am happy to work together with Claudia on the second edition of the WASH in schools publication. We are still looking for good case stories (see thread at the bottom of following page: forum.susana.org/forum/categories/60-wg-...it=12&start=36#10510).
I think your story about the Microflush-Biofil toilet system you installed in a school in Ghana is very interesting.. Would you still like to share this story?

Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you!
Best, Isabell

CALL for NEW case studies of sustainable WASH in schools and kindergartens from all over the world (second edition)

Dear ALL,

because of the good feedback to this first case study publication (see here: forum.susana.org/forum/categories/60-wg-...m-all-over-the-world), we are now looking into a second edition of "Making WASH in Schools more Sustainable".

Please if you have a good story to share, around the topics:

WASH in Schools:
Hygiene education
Software/hardware aspects of sustainability
Institutional setting, role of key stakeholders
Financial sustainability in poor communities
SLTS

please send it to me or to my colleague Isabell Wienpahl until 5 December 2014

looking forward to hearing from you

best regards
Claudia and Isabell
