Hi everyone,
I recommend a recent publication by the International Water Association, titled "WASH Human Resource Capacity Gaps in 15 Developing Economies"
www.iwa-network.org/downloads/1422745887...crisis-wash-gaps.pdf
This research report highlights the significant shortage of human resources bases needed to design, construct, operate and maintain WASH services. It also provides an overarching recommendation for the development of national capacity development strategies to ensure sustained, adequate professional and technical capacity.

Re: Submit your favorite reading and win one of many prizes!

Thank you Tommy!
I actually also noted to add this on my list but forgot it in the last minute.
The recent report was also presented during AfricaSan3 and it will give us an excellent framework for the upcoming WG1 meeting in Stockholm.
The invitation will soon following with more details and the agenda, but please already save the date: August 27 2015!
Kind regards
Dorothee

I suggest
Compendium of Sanitation Systems and Technologies: ecompendium.sswm.info/
The compilation gives a deep insight in various sanitation systems, is globally applicable.

Thanks Dorothee for posting this call here.
I hope all the other working group leads will follow suit, because we want to compile the top-10 key documents for each working group topic!
For people new to SuSanA, here you can find the 12 SuSanA working groups:
www.susana.org/en/working-groups/overview
We have also created key document lists for the different thematic categories of the forum. They can be accessed from the so called "front door" page of our forum:
forum.susana.org/
From there you have access to the key documents page:
forum.susana.org/key-documents
This is meant to be for newcomers to obtain a quick orientation.
Dorothee, you have listed some "documents" in your proposed list which are not actually documents but takes people to other websites, i.e. this one:
Sustainable Sanitation and Water Management Toolbox (SSWM): www.sswm.info
and this one:
Sustainable Sanitation for the 21st Century: www.sustainablesanitation.info/meny.html
This is not really in line with collecting "key documents" but it maybe opens up the question if one should also collect a list of "key websites"?
When I have compiled "key documents" for some of the thematic areas in the past, e.g. inclusion and disability, I created a list of both, key documents and also key websites, see here:
forum.susana.org/forum/categories/93-inc...usion-and-disability
or for example here for hand washing:
forum.susana.org/forum/categories/23-han...gory-on-hand-washing
For further inspiration on possible documents, you can also filter the SuSanA library for WG 1 as a filter function (see www.susana.org/library , then use the filter at the top right). This brings up these 87 documents:
www.susana.org/en/resources/library?vbl_...5D=&vbl_8%5B38%5D=38
Regards,
Elisabeth
P.S. The last one that you suggested (Worldwide list of ecosan courses by various institutions) is hopelessly out of date (last updated 5 years ago...). Also ecosan and sustainable sanitation is not the same thing as we have discussed in great length on the forum here ...

Dear Mughal,
Thanks for uploading the files! In order to make it easier for people to look at them and make and to vote: could you make a selection of the most important ones and also provide the title and authors with it.
I then could add those additional documents to the doodle for online voting....
Kind regards
Dorothee

Re: Submit your favorite reading about capacity development (WG1 topic) and win one of many prizes!

Dear all
I have also got a input from CAWST about a great resources:
Delivering Effective WASH Training (DEWT) – it includes all the information needed to facilitate a workshop on Delivering Effective WASH Training to potential (or current) trainers.
You can acess it here: resources.cawst.org/collection/deliverin...ning-workshop-kit_en
Among others you can find the “Participant Manual” with the technical information in it, is a collection of briefs called “Trainer Essentials” – I’ve attached a copy.
This and all the other resources still wait for you vote here: doodle.com/p5epvmuzd4nqg9dy !
To suggest additional resources for the list, just reply to this thread!
Kind regards
Dorothee
