Re: Anyone from Pakistan working on Fecal Sludge Treatment and Management
Hi Nida,
Maybe this is useful for you: I have filtered the SuSanA partner database for "country" Pakistan and it came up with these 37 SuSanA partner organisations:
www.susana.org/en/community/partners/lis...&vbl_15%5B511%5D=511
Looking through the list it seems to be mainly large international NGOs, rather than local ones.
I also filtered the SuSanA project database for Pakistan but it only came up with these two:
www.susana.org/en/knowledge-hub/projects...&vbl_15%5B511%5D=511
There are 208 SuSanA members in Pakistan.
If you find out more actors working on Fecal Sludge Treatment and Management in Pakistan please post them also in this thread so that others can find it here in future. Thanks!

Re: Anyone from Pakistan working on Fecal Sludge Treatment and Management
Dear Ms Nida.
I had posted my response that you may source ideally samplers used on oil tankers to sample their Bottom sediments and water.
The device resembles a tube with a flap at the bottom to admit sample ie sludge, solids, water or thick oil in. Then the flap is shut and the complete device with the fluids contained in it is hauled out of the tank.
These devices are called BS&W Sampler, I have seen and used the devices in crude oil tanks in tankers, which is similar to a septic- tank or large sewer system, from where you wish to sample the matter- as described ie sludgy, solid, thick liquid Etc..
Therefore pl try to locate a Ship Stores Supplier ( called Ship Chandler ) and explain to him. These devices are also described in Stores cataloque Etc.
All the best, happy sampling.

Re: Anyone from Pakistan working on Fecal Sludge Treatment and Management
Thank you Mr. Ziggy Kugedera,
I am currently working on exploring the characteristics of Fecal Sludge in Capital of Pakistan and then on their treatment potentials.
Can you kindly help me in identifying areas where onsite sanitation facilities are located preferably in Islamabad or nearby areas?
Moreover I want to design sludge sampler to fetch sludge from pits/ septic tanks as there is no emptying facilities available in Pakistan.
If you are also interested, kindly let me know at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Re: Anyone from Pakistan working on Fecal Sludge Treatment and Management
Hallo
UNICEF Pakistan is currently doing some baseline studies to come up with a business case for urban WASH in polio high-risk union councils and FSM is also part of it. We are also looking at potential FSM solutions especially for rural areas and urban slums.
So if you are working on FSM, feel free to reach me and we can have further discussions and see any areas of potential collaboration. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Anyone from Pakistan working on Fecal Sludge Treatment and Management
HEllo Everyone!
Is there anyone working on Fecal Sludge Treatment and Management in Pakistan?
Are there any funded projects in Pakistan/ local, national or international funding agencies who fund such projects related to fecal sludge treatment?
