Re: Looking for statements/comments of world leaders and publications on importance of sanitation

Dear Marianne,

That was very useful and interesting. Thank you

Could you kindly get some more statements/addresses (UN Chief, President/PM of your country, or other countries); and some publications?

Thanks for help.

Kind regards,

Re: Looking for statements/comments of world leaders and publications on importance of sanitation

Dear Mughal & Elizabeth,

Thanks for pointing towards these useful references. May I also suggest the following address by Dr. Margaret Chan (it does however date back to October 2013):

Dr Margaret Chan
Director-General of the World Health Organization

Universal access to water and sanitation: the lifeblood of good health
Keynote address at Budapest Water Summit

Budapest, Hungary
9 October 2013

Hope this helps!

Re: Looking for statements/comments of world leaders and publications on importance of sanitation

Hi Mughal,

Well, as a starting point, I recommend that you look at the references listed in the Wikipedia article on sanitation, see here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanitation#References

Also the references listed in the Wikipedia article on open defecation are good:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_defecation#References

Note to all (especially people working on advocacy): If these two reference lists have omitted important new statements by important organisations, please bring them to my attention so that I can make sure they get cited in the respective Wikipedia articles.

Hope this helps,
Elisabeth

Looking for statements/comments of world leaders and publications on importance of sanitation

Dear all,

I'm looking for statements/comments of world leaders (e.g., UN Secy General; UN Dy, Secy General; UNICEF Chief; President ADB; DG of WHO, etc, etc); and publications on importance of sanitation, that is, why sanitation, what is the good of (improved) sanitation, what if there is no (improved) sanitation, and so on.

Would you be kind enough to help?

Thank you all!

Regards,
