Jamie, I think this would be an appropriate place for you to post and discuss your research including that related to the simulants that have been developed and also information about the penetrometer.
Also, if anyone is planning to do some research on mechanical properties, could you identify what data you are intending to collect and how you're planning to store the data. I'm hoping that as the database requirements of the various past, ongoing and planned research becomes clear, a common database can be identified/used.
