This is an interesting initiative. I noticed the article discusses a problem also encountered with sanitation, that it is currently a low priority so there is limited funding (0.2% of development spending in 2012).
Maybe there are lessons to be shared in raising the profile of various types of waste management, particularly as these activities represent key examples of sustainable development.
