Exciting job opportunity with the CLTS Knowledge Hub

We are currently seeking a Research Officer to join the expanding CLTS (Community-led Total Sanitation) Knowledge Hub. The CLTS Knowledge Hub is committed to supporting Community-led Total Sanitation to go to scale with quality and in a sustainable manner, and to accelerate its spread.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but lively team and to contribute to the activities and direction of the CLTS Knowledge Hub. We are looking for someone with fresh ideas, perspectives and energy who will help us make our activities more wide-reaching and effective. For the right person, there is scope to develop the role in the direction of particular interests or skills.

The Research Officer role entails action learning and networking (through country visits as well as virtual communications) to stay up to date with CLTS practice in different countries and by different organisations and to extract learnings for dissemination to the global CLTS community. Communication activities such as the production and dissemination of publications, and the gathering of content for the CLTS website form another major part of the role.

The Research Officer will represent the Hub at national and international conferences and events, strengthening and developing relationships with other key players in the sector, and enhancing the Hubs international presence. S/he will also be expected to contribute to sessions at these events. The post holder will also help to organise and co-facilitate workshops. Since this is a small team, the Research Officer will undertake administrative and management work where appropriate and necessary. The role requires the postholder to contribute to the Hub's fundraising and donor related activities such as monitoring impact and reporting, and also includes ample scope for shaping the Hub's strategy and workplan alongside the rest of the team.

Applicants should have a Masters degree or equivalent professional qualification in development studies or a related field, along with excellent writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to summarise complex information in clear language for diverse audiences. In depth knowledge and/or practical experience of CLTS including its approach, methodology, evolution and current debates is essential, as is CLTS-related field-based or research experience.

Salary: £24,452 - £36,658 Per Annum in the IDS Grade 6 range.
Closing date: 15 September 2014, 10am UK time
Interview date: Week Commencing 29th September 2014
OFFICIAL APPLICATION FORMS ONLY, CVs are not accepted
