COP for Sanitation Service Delivery proposal (West Africa)

The mission of Global Communities (formerly CHF International) is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe.

Global Communities is seeking a Chief of Party for an anticipated $16 million USAID-funded sanitation service delivery project in West Africa. The project seeks to increase the use of improved sanitation, expand the safe disposal and use of fecal waste, and disseminate learning on market-based approaches to sanitation. With a focus on Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire and Benin, the five-year project is slated to cultivate the private sector in sanitation programming in urban and peri-urban areas.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the program, particularly in technical areas such as private sector support and/or sanitation;
  • Effectively represent Global Communities to the program donor and host country governments;
  • Provide oversight of the project’s financial management and procurement systems;
  • Make key decisions and solve problems under tight deadlines while ensuring operational and program integrity;
  • Ensure timely, high-quality and complete submission of work plans and performance and financial reports;
  • Provide effective leadership to ensure integration of program implementation among partner organizations.


Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher in Business or Management;
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in the private sector or providing technical assistance to improve private sector performance;
  • At least 10 years of successful experience as Project Director of large donor-funded technical assistance teams for projects of similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries;
  • Prior experience with private sector development programs;
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other implementers and teams carrying out USAID- and other donor-funded programs, including activities in different sectors such as agriculture, energy, environment, and democracy/governance;
  • Capacity to effectively deal with and resolve conflict; strong writing, presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Fluency in English mandatory, French highly preferable.
