Title: Water and Sanitation Expert, Philippines

Location: Office in Cotabato City

Starting Date and Duration: As soon as possible, 1 year with possible extension

Main Role:

The incumbent supports a Philippine partner with technical expertise in water and sanitation. The role includes three major tasks:

• capacity development of the partner organization,
• monitoring of the rehabilitation and construction of sanitation facilities in elementary schools in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), which is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and partners under AusAID’s Basic Education Assistance to Muslim Mindanao (BEAM ARMM)-Program and
• liaison with GIZ and partner NGOs.

Competency Requirements:

• Expertise in water and sanitation, ideally with experience in low-cost public facilities’ sanitation
• Demonstrated procurement, management and communication/networking skills
• Experience in organizational development is a bonus
• Ability to communicate and to relate with the culturally diverse people in ARMM
• Ability to tailor communication to different types of audiences
• Results- and performance–oriented approach
• Organized working style
• Experience in conflict-sensitive approaches is desired

Professional Qualifications:

• University degree in engineering or architecture, specialization in water and sanitation is a bonus
• Minimum of 5 years of professional working experience in a similar position or related field
• Note: The extent of professional working experience may justify an educational attainment of the incumbent/candidate that is lower than a Masters degree.
