Salary : 18,600 GBP per annum for a 3 day week (equivalent of full salary of 31,000 GBP pa)
Duration: Fixed term contract of 2 years with possible extension.
Part time: Minimum of 3 days per week with potential for additional inputs in the inception and key stages in the project. Subject to interest and availability, there is potential to secure additional project assignments.
Location: Home-based contract with 1-2 days per week (hot-desking) in Oxford office
Job Role: As part of Oxfam’s Global Humanitarian Team, the Communications and Knowledge Management (Wash) Specialist will play a key role in the delivery of a programme of a 3 year programme activity by the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA) led by Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI). The programme aims to increase and improve the use of the SuSanA platform through a clear communications plan and platform improvements and subsequently to demonstrate improvements in the impact that use of the SuSanA Platform has on members’ work in sanitation. The position will lead an engagement, outreach and dissemination program involving with Oxfam staff in Public Health Engineering and Public Health Promotion teams, and promote interest and involvement from Oxfam’s partners in country offices with relevant WASH programmes.
Overall responsibilities:
Promote SuSanA network internally in line with areas of Oxfam’s thematic focus.
Encourage staff from the country offices to participate in the SuSanA platform and feedback into discussion forums, WG activities, SuSanA library.
Support the leads and co-leads of the Working Groups on ‘Emergency and reconstruction (WG 8 ), ‘Sanitation systems, technology options, hygiene and health’ (WG 4), ‘Public Awareness, Advocacy and Civil Society Engagement’ (WG 9), and ‘Community, Rural and School’ (WG 7).
Lead knowledge management and outreach program in specific thematic areas.
Moderate specific thematic discussions /webinars relevant to the SuSanA Working Groups.
Provide support to the work of the SuSanA secretariat e.g. support to e-conferences, webinars etc
Eligibility and Qualifications of Successful Candidate
a) EDUCATION: Advanced university degree related to WASH covering public health engineering and/or public health promotion. A relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree.
b) WORK EXPERIENCE: Overseas work experience in the development, planning and implementation of WASH programming including aspect of knowledge management, communications and capacity building activities.
c) LANGUAGES: Fluency in English
Applicants need to be resident in the UK or have the right to work in the UK, in a position to work predominantly from home and residing in a location where it is possible to commute to the Oxfam office in Oxford.
