Research Fellow in Water Engineering for Developing Countries at Cranfield University

Here at Cranfield, we can offer you the opportunity and resources to really develop your career. The Cranfield Water Science Institute has over 25 years of successful research and teaching based on the knowledge, skills and abilities of our staff and our undoubted ability to partner with and develop our post-graduate students. We host a suite of unique, near industrial-scale facilities that attract funding from across the water sector as well as from government and charitable trusts and we have strategic partnerships with several water utilities. The quality of our research and teaching on water and sanitation for low income countries was recognised this year through award of the Queens Anniversary Prize for Higher & Further Education. Our expanding Water & Sanitation Group is committed to improving access to safe, affordable, and sustainable water and sanitation worldwide. As part of delivering on this ambition we wish to recruit a Research Fellow with capabilities aligned to the Group’s emerging interests to support both teaching and research. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to deliver pioneering research that changes water and sanitation thinking and practice. You will join a leading provider of progressive educational and research support for international development, delivered through ground breaking collaborations with the private and public sectors. You will have a PhD or equivalent degree in a field related to water engineering with particular emphasis on applications in low income settings (or associated subject), a track record of winning and delivering research projects sponsored by both the public and private sectors, a peer-reviewed publication track record on WASH topics and experience of teaching and supervision at post-graduate level. Your experience should have provided you with a close understanding of the contemporary challenges facing the WASH sector and practical knowledge of the design and implementation of WASH interventions. We are looking for someone with excellent oral and written communication skills who is comfortable and confident dealing with senior colleagues and research sponsors. In return Cranfield University offers substantive opportunities for professional development and operates an effective collegiate working environment. If you have ambition to build your own reputation through research, an impressive publications record and a great student teaching approach, then we would like to hear from you. For an informal discussion, please contact Prof Sean Tyrrel, Professor of Bioaerosol Science/SEEA Director of Education on +44 (0)1234 758320 or (E); This email address is being protected from spambots.
