Fellowship offers: PhD students&postdocs: ReUseWaste from Animal Waste

Just received this via e-mail:

We are very pleased to announce:

ReUseWaste - Recovery and Use of Nutrients, Energy and Organic Matter from Animal Waste

ReUsewaste is a new multidisciplinary and multi-site network, bringing together major EU research groups from leading universities and research institutes, key agri-environmental technology companies and public authorities, from the countries and regions of most intensive livestock production in Europe. The network is an Initial Training Network project funded under the Marie Curie action of the EU-FP7-PEOPLE program in the period 2012-2015.

For further info, please see www.reusewaste.eu. A press release about the project can be found here in English and in Danish

Now recruiting!
The ReUseWaste network will train a group of 14 young researchers in developing new technologies for socially and environmentally sustainable utilisation of the valuable organic matter and nutrient resources in animal waste.

We are therefore now recruiting PhD students and postdocs to be hosted at the various principal partners throughout Europe - please see the fellowship vacancy announcements at www.reusewaste.eu/Fellowships. Deadline for application is 16th April.

Appointed fellows will be contracted employees of the host institutions according to the rules set out the FP7 Marie Curie grant program. Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in international training activities, meetings etc. and to spend shorter research or training periods with one or several of the other network partners.

Please kindly forward this info to any potential candidates you may know for these positions - especially if you are yourself a post-graudate student, PhD student or postdoc, we ask you to spread the news throughout your network. We really want highly qualified, motivated and academically well-founded young candidates and we welcome applications from suitable qualified candidates regardless of age, gender, race, religion or ethnic background.

Newsletter
If you are interested in following the ReUseWaste project, we will be issuing 2-4 newsletters per year, with info on training activities (e.g. courses also open to PhD students and postdocs outside the primary partners), outcomes of our research and conferences or seminars organised by the network. Just send a mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the subject 'Newsletter' and we will add you to our mailing list.

Best regards
The ReUseWaste team

It would be interesting to also have a direct comparison of animal vs. human waste (like what we already have in the DWA-NASS paper, where liquid manure is compared to human excreta for different reasons). I hope this research will help to establish more reuse approaches in the EU.
