Re: Launch of PUBLIC TOILET ALERT page on FACEBOOK

Getting a clean and hygiene toilet is a problem when people out home. Awareness of public facilities is so minor, very few nation who provide excellent public service what called TOILET. The awareness of the need of these facilities is not there yet, even though we all know the mobilities and the travelers are increasing. Clean toilet become a marketing tools and competition among tourists business, hospitals, airport, students, revelers etc. With the damage of the environment of course a better toilet in rural and urban become very important to prevent diseases.

That is why CAGIEA launched this page on facebook so that everybody can speak about the condition of toilets at public premises. Get it at www.facebook.com/cagiea

Re: Some latrines are health hazard

That is well-written and well-said. You have really touched the "nerve of sanitation."
You are cent percent right. I couldn't have said it better. How can we get the East Africa Toilet Guide? Perhaps, you can send it on this forum, as an pdf attachment, for the benefits of other readers, as well.

Thanks,

Re: Some latrines are health hazard

Dear Mughal,

I gree with you, indeed that is one of the reason why CAGIEA started the production and publication of the East Africa Toilet Guide. This Guide is going to offer a platform to the users, providers of sanitation facilities and products to have their views published. We intend to make this book reach most homes in East Africa by distributing it free in schools, public institutions, places of worship etc. We have a feeling li the population has to be reminded on sanitation issues everyday just as it is done with Gospel, the word of GOD which is preached everyday but still not every one on earth is committed to God.

Sensitizing on sanitation as it is now done by NGOs is done for a specific period which is determined by the finances available for this item within a specific project. This is not sufficient enough to cause a significant behavioral change.

Our challenge is having enough copies printed and distributed every month so we would wish to partner with anybody or international agencies to expand this project. We also have a plan to publish the Guide in Different East African local languages especially Swahili.
