Re: Designing the World Toilet Museum

Hi Jack
I just have one question; how is the world toilet museum going to help those people that are currently living in the sanitation crisis?

Re: Designing the World Toilet Museum

Dear Jack and forum friends,

It is very interesting and exciting news! I shall support the idea!

I would love you to consider adding the knowledge on the effects of digesting and ingesting quality to the quality of faeces, which visitors can learn what can make poops and body better with - poor mastication makes squishy faeces, dietary fibre increase in volume... for trivial instance, to the bowel movement area or the list if not yet. That can hopefully contribute to people's understanding of what is dangerous of diarrhoea or constipation! :-)

Looking forward to the updates!

Fondly,
~Kanako K

Re: Designing the World Toilet Museum

Dear Jack,
Sounds like a fantastic project.

Your lists looks pretty comprehensive. I am not sure what could still be added, but I would find it important to put emphasis on the biology around excreta. The process of shit being decomposed by worms and micororganisms and how for million of years the nutrient cycle it has worked and is still working - complex process in terms of science but somehow also simple and comprehendable. Composting and mineralisation could be intersting theme from a scientific and educational point of view.

Designing the World Toilet Museum

Hello All,

The World Toilet Museum is an iconic design by a Danish architect for WTO. We are already offered land in China to build it but we open minded to other locations as well.

I am now collecting ideas of the exhibits, posters and artifacts to put in and Ecosan is certainly one important area.
Here are the list and I hope you all can add more to it or expand on it:

- History of Toilet and Human Development
- Culture of Sanitation around the world
- Technology tracking
- Diseases
- Livelihood
- Design
- Products
- World Toilet Crisis today
- Why was Toilet a Taboo. Advocacy track
- Solutions and Scalability
- Experiential space
- Menstruation
- Bowel Movement
- Anal Cleansing
- Urination
- Bathing
- Fashion
- Music
- Arts
- Media Center
- Training Center
- Research Center
- WcCafe
- Toilet Shop

Please add and elaborate on how to make the WTM a powerful education center for the world to understand Sanitation and to act on it.

Cheers
