Dear all,
I have now added main comments on the main issues and question raised during the webinar discussion with participants after the presentation of Luiza (Modeling the next generation of sanitation systems) here: forum.susana.org/forum/categories/97-ena...mit=12&start=12#7220
Feel free to ask them any question there on the forum!

Re: Recording for webinar 5 - presentations by Kai Udert and Luiza Campos
Dear all,
We had a very good turn-out at our last webinar (number 5) on "Resource recovery and reuse" (details above), with the highest number of participants so far. I think the topics of the presenters were very attractive and our advertising machine, including Sanitation Updates, also worked well.
What didn't work so well was our Adobe Connect system, because SEI moved office in early January and also had to renew/change their licence with Adobe Connect which meant that the server for the webinar was now in the US and no longer in Stockholm. So unfortunately, we had some technical problems and a limit of 25 participants - with the result that some people who tried to join right on time at 16:30 could no longer get into the virtual room (participant number exceeded). If you were one of them, we are very sorry! Arno is changing routines plus increasing room size to 100 to prevent reoccurrence for our future webinars.
Due to the technical problems described above, the recording of the webinar was full of flaws and I therefore cannot provide it to you, which is a real pity. However, the good news is that two of the presenters have already been so kind to re-record their presentations.

Here you see the presentation by Mbaye Mbeguere, Senegal National Sanitation Utility, ONAS, Senegal ("Structuring of the fecal sludge market for the benefit of poor households in Dakar, Senegal") which was re-recorded on 7 Feb. 2014 (it is 15 minutes long including the questions at the end):

Further information about this webinar:
The webinar took place on: 21 January 2014, 16:30 - 17:45
We had 28 participants and a good mix of grantees and non-grantees. The participants asked many questions using the chat field inside of Adobe Connect which was a handy way to participate.
This was the fifth webinar in a series with the aim to give increased exposure to the BMGF research grants, which are also discussed on the SuSanA Discussion Forum (see above for more information about these webinars and to see past recordings).
We thank all presenters and participants for their effort and time!! We apologise once again for the technical problems. We hope that you enjoyed either the webinar or the recorded presentations (for the first time, we have made separate video clips for each presentation rather than one long video from the entire webinar; is this better for you?); and we look forward to welcoming you the sixth webinar with the topic "Productive Sanitation" which will take place on Tuesday, 25 February 2014 (details will be provided soon) - we promise to have a large enough virtual room this time to accommodate everyone and to have a good recording afterwards.
Regards,
Elisabeth, Arno, Dorothee, Nelson
P.S. Summaries of the question and answer session for each of the three presentations is available in the respective threads (except for Mbaye's).
(*) Nelson Ekane (SEI) was in the audience for the two re-recordings and asked some questions at the end; his volume was too low but the answers of the presenters are very clear.

Dear all,
We are happy to announce that the 5th Webinar with Gates Foundation sanitation grantees and SuSanA members will take place on:
Tuesday 21 January 2014, 16:30 - 17:15
(CET - Central European Time; use this time converter if you are unsure of the time difference to your location: www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html)
Topic: "Innovation in resource recovery and reuse"
We have found these webinars to be an excellent tool to exchange on research approaches and results and to hear directly from the "horse's mouth" what the achievements and difficulties are with these projects that have been funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
This is the fifth webinar in a series this year with the aim to give increased exposure to the BMGF research grants, which are also discussed on the SuSanA Discussion Forum (see here to see recordings from the previous four webinars: forum.susana.org/forum/categories/139-ge...s-in-2013-number-1-4).
Agenda:
(16:00 - 16:30 Participants can start entering the room, last sound checks)
16:30 Recording starts
Introduction by moderator, short introduction of participants (1 min.).
Three presentations and questions (45 min. in total); each presentation is about 5 minutes long and is followed by around 10 minutes of questions (content of presentations: project objectives and timing, methods used, results and lessons learnt so far, way forward and open questions).
