Summary:
The ‘Resource Recovery and Safe Reuse’ project (RRR project) focuses on rethinking sanitation systems and turning waste streams into physical and financial resource streams by ensuring and promoting safe reuse. It was initiated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC / Global Programme Water Initiatives).
The first phase (2012-2015), also referred to as the research phase, produced under the lead of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the World Health Organization (WHO) (i) a catalogue of business models for four cities (Kampala, Hanoi, Bangalore and Lima) and (ii) a Sanitation Safety Plan (SSP) Manual. In addition, feasibility studies of the RRR business models were conducted in the four cities mentioned above .
The objective of the second phase is to test and implement the RRR business models and related SSP in two cities: Kampala and Lima. The aim of the current tender is to identify an implementing partner for the implementation of RRR businesses in Lima (phase 2) during the period 2016-2017.
The implementation phase (phase 2) will examine the most promising business models for Lima, identify pilot sites and train the relevant stakeholders on business planning and the SSP, while assuring an adequate recognition of the project at political level.
Estimated start and end of phase 2: May 2016 to November 2017
Estimated man months for the phase 2: approx. 20

Tender announcement - Resource Recovery and Safe Reuse (RRR) business models in Lima, Peru

we have received the following message from Eileen Hofstetter (Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC)):


The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) - through its Global Programme Water Initiatives and Cooperation Office in Lima, Peru - seeks the services of a competent organisation (or consortium of organisations) that will be mandated by SDC to implement Resource Recovery and Safe Reuse (RRR) business models in Lima, Peru. The overall project is expected to have 2 phases over a 6-year period. The first phase (2012-2015) was a research phase. The selected organisation (or consortium) will be responsible for the second phase (2016-2017) which aims at implementing the research results of phase 1.

Interested organisations (and consortiums) can access the full tender document issued on 15 January 2016 on the following website: www.simap.ch (Project Number 134979 , Notice no. 897507).

The deadline for the submission of complete participant applications is 9 February 2016. The selection process is governed by strict tender rules and procedures outlined in the tender document.
