Dear Chaiwe,
Many thanks for your message and for attending the preview and soft launch in May. It is great to hear that you found the Toolbox promising, and we very much appreciate your continued interest.
The Resource Recovery Toolbox is now live and openly accessible worldwide at www.resource-recovery.info . Since the launch, we have seen steady and encouraging engagement. We are tracking usage through Matomo analytics, the same platform used for the SuSanA website and Forum, which allows us to monitor uptake while respecting user privacy. While we have not yet compiled and published a full set of statistics, early indications show users from at least 35 countries, spanning almost all continents. We expect to consolidate and share a more comprehensive overview of usage and reach after the end of the year.
Beyond quantitative usage, we have been receiving a substantial amount of qualitative feedback. This includes comments on existing content, suggestions for improving or updating specific tools, recommendations for additional tools and case studies to include, as well as inquiries about collaboration around resource recovery initiatives. This continuous dialogue with users is central to our approach, as it helps us better understand how the Toolbox is being used in practice and which additional resources would be most valuable to the community.
We very much see the Toolbox as a living, community-oriented platform. Contributions from the SuSanA community and individual practitioners are warmly welcomed, whether in the form of new tools, case studies, datasets, or other relevant resources. Suggestions can be shared directly with the team, and we are always happy to engage in discussion on how the platform can continue to evolve and improve.
Thank you again for your interest and for helping keep the conversation going within the SuSanA community.
Kind regards,
Daniel

Re: Invite: Preview and soft launch of the Resource Recovery Toolbox – 12 May 2025, 1400 hrs CET
Dear David.
I attended the launch of the Resource Recovery Toolbox back in May and found it to be a very promising addition to the sector’s resources.
Since then, I’ve been wondering how the uptake and response from the sector has been. Have you been able to track usage, document any interventions, or gather feedback from practitioners? I’m also curious about any emerging outcomes, lessons learned, or updates.
It would be great to hear how it’s performing in practice and whether there are opportunities for the SuSanA community and Individual practitioners to contribute to its growth and improvement.
Kind regards,
Chaiwe

Dear Colleagues,As many of you know, we have over the past year been developing the Resource Recovery Toolbox, an online platform designed to make decision-support tools for planning and implementing resource recovery from sanitation (and other related organic waste streams) more discoverable and accessible. The platform is meant to collate resource recovery content, in a way that complements other thematic platforms in the SuSanA community like the Sanitation Workers Hub, the SFD portal and Sani-Hub etc. We are now pleased to invite you to a preview and soft launch of the Resource Recovery Toolbox, where you get a peek at what we have been working on.
🗓 Date: 12 May 2025
🕑 Time: 14:00 CET
📍 Zoom link: sei-org.zoom.us/s/63071066399
About the Toolbox
The Resource Recovery Toolbox is an open-access online platform developed by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) in collaboration with Dotwerkstatt, Baobab Tech, and the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA). It curates and organizes tools—ranging from software and datasets to guidelines and case studies—making it easier for practitioners, planners, and researchers to access and apply them in the field of sanitation, waste management, and circular economy.
🔗 Learn more about the Toolbox
What to expect during the soft launch:
- A brief introduction to the project and partners
- A live preview of the website and its main features
- Space for your feedback and suggestions
- Networking with others engaged in resource recovery and sanitation
📝 RSVP: No registration needed—just join via the Zoom link above.
Feel free to forward this invitation to colleagues or others who may be interested.
We look forward to your participation and feedback!
