WASH Exit Interviews Study Published

Why do people committed to advancing universal WASH leave the WASH sector? FLUSH wanted to find out, so our Associate  Rebecca Gianotti  and Founder  Kimberly Worsham, MPA, MIWM  interviewed 20 professionals who have exited the international  #WASH  sector since 2020. Here's what we've learned:

The common reasons that caused them to leave were:
• bad professional experiences
• lack of diversity, equity and inclusion
• decolonisation
• lack of collaboration
• money problems
• slow pace of progress

For the full details, see the latest article on our blog here -  www.itsflush.com/post/wash-exit-interviews

We also brainstormed on possible solutions to these challenges, mainly by actively making WASH more diverse and inclusive, creating equal professional development opportunities, and becoming a more dynamic sector. But we'd also love to hear your ideas.

What else can we do to make working in the global  #WaterAndSanitation  sector a more plausible experience?
