Material needed for UNEP publication urgently
Dear Sustainable Consumption friends in Africa,
I hope this email reaches you well! As you know, UNEP is engaged in a number of initiatives aimed at raising environmental awareness among young people. One of those initiatives is the YouthXchange Initiative, which was jointly created by UNEP and UNESCO in 2001 to promote sustainable lifestyles among young people aged 15-24 through education, dialogue, awareness-raising and capacity-building. Some of you may have come across theYouthXchange training kit on responsible consumption, which is the main publication under the YouthXchange Initiative along with YouthXchange's website www.youthxchange.net.
We are currently developing a new YouthXchange publication just for Africa and we really need your help! The YouthXchange training kit on responsible consumption for Africais the first regional YouthXchange guidebook. This new guidebook is for African youth and teachers, reflecting the reality of sustainable consumption in the region, covering the main issues that we encounter in our daily lives: food, mobility/transport, tourism, waste, energy, climate change, water and human rights issues. We are currently collecting case studies relevant to these issues, focusing on consumption, namely:
* Mobility
* Waste
* Energy
* Climate change
* Water
* Human rights/child labour
* Animal rights/endangered species
* Eco-fashion
* Consumer action
* Role of the media and advertising, media campaigns
The case studies should be between 100-200 words related to the topics mentioned above. They should contain a website for more information, and if pictures are available, please do send them as well.
If you are able to send us a case study or more, please do so by 2 July 2012 by contacting, Khairoon Abbas, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
