Introducing Decentralised Environmental Solutions: a new partner organisation of SuSanA

We would like to welcome Decentralised Environmental Solutions (DES) as new SuSanA partner organisation.

The following text is taken directly from their application form and was written by the partner organisation themselves.

Description:
DES strives to promote self-sustainable communities through linking innovative environmental solutions to people’s livelihood strategies in South Africa. •A healthier life through Improved Sanitation for All. •Sustainable agriculture through usage of nutrient rich effluent. •Food security and Job creation.

Activities in Sustainable Sanitation:
DES spearheads the facilitation of improved sanitation in communities and schools through the use of the DEWATS, (Descentralised Wastewater Treatment Solutions). DEWATS is an innovative wastewater treatment approach, alternative to conventional centralised wastewater treatment plants, which provides treatment solutions for domestic wastewater, complying with discharge standards and environmental laws.

Expectations in the Partnership:
DES in partnership with SuSanA would produce networking and a share of knowledge and skills.

Contribution to SuSanA:
DES can bridge the gap between the SuSanA and Southern Africa. Also the local knowledge and know how positions DES as a strategic partner to disseminate the knowledge.
