Description:

Welthungerhilfe - one of the biggest non-governmental aid and development agencies in Germany - campaigns against worldwide hunger and for sustainable food and nutrition security. This involves focusing on site-specific agriculture, access to clean water and sanitation and a modern, environment-friendly energy supply and improving healthcare and education. The core principle of Welthungerhilfe work is “help towards self-help”. With its large and diverse portfolio of activities in the fields of water, sanitation and hygiene, Welthungerhilfe has been implementing emergency-WASH interventions, as well as long-term development WASH-programmes in many developing countries around the world, for five decades.

Activities in Sustainable Sanitation:

Implementing co-funded projects with a focus on WASH in more than 15 countries worldwide. Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest non-governmental aid organisations in Germany. Welthungerhilfe has supported some 5,500 projects in over 70 countries with 1.9 billion Euro since its foundation in 1962 enabling people in developing countries to take control of their own lives now and in the future. The activities with a focous on food security and poverty reduction in rural areas range from rapid response to disasters through reconstruction to longterm development projects.
