Introducing KIRDARC as a new partner organisation of SuSanA
We would like to welcome Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre - KIRDAC
from Nepal as a new SuSanA partner organisation!
The following text is taken from their application form and was written by the partner organisation themselves.
Description and Activities in Sustainable Sanitation:
Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre (KIRDARC Nepal) is a Nepali Non-governmental National Organization, registered at District Administration Office, Jumla in 1999, and operating in 15 districts of Mid and Far Western Development Region and 6 districts of Central Development region. It is affiliated with Social Welfare Council, the regulatory body of Government of Nepal. Historically, it has been visualized by the youths from Karnali as rights based organization to empower the marginalized, vulnerable and excluded people to raise their voice at national development mainstream. Currently, it has been engaging more than 500 community institutions to consolidate their knowledge, skills and capacities to sustain their lives in dignified manner. Recently KIRDARC finalized its five years strategy plan 2014-2018 which envisages a just and prosperous society. Mainly, KIRDARC has been working in WASH sector since 2006 with the collaboration of local government and donors. It focuses on safe water and sanitation to the vulnerable and poor people. Integrated WASH program is launched in many municipality and rural municipality of Nepal. Recently, KIRDARC Nepal in partnership with WaterAID has been working in WASH sector since 2013 in Jumla to increase sustainable access of rural households to safe water and basic sanitation through capacity building interventions that result in the provision of universally accessible facilities, support the development of increase capacity to ensure hygiene promotion services, bring about sustainable behavior change, and support policies and strategies to keep services operating through effective governance and partnerships with multilateral agencies, civil society and business.
