Re: [In French] C'est parti ! Prioritized list of French articles to edit ! Edit-a-thon (19th-21th of March)
Hi Everyone!
The Cranfield team is glad to announce that 13 articles have been translated into French.
Part of them are completly translated, others have only the leads translated, which encourage people to further edit them later. We also have worked on improving some articles where the LEAD where not developped.
Please see below the link of the articles
---- Articles recently translated to French from English article ----
- Changement de Comportement (Behavior Change)
- Gestion des boues fécales (Feacal Sludge Management)
- Défécation à l'air libre (Open defecation)
- Toilettes sèches à séparation d'urine (Urine-diverting dry toilet)
- Journée mondiale des toilettes (World Toilet Day)
---- French Articles created with only LEAD part translated from English version ----
- EcoSan (Ecological Sanitation)
- Assainissement Durable (Sustainable Sanitation)
- Engrais Organique (Organic Fertilizer)
- Journée Mondiale de l'hygiène menstruelle (Menstrual Hygiene Day)
- Journée Mondiale du lavage des mains (Global Handwashing Day)
---- French articles edited & improved ----
- Eau, Assainissement et Hygiène / EAH (WASH)
- Helminthiase (Helminthiasis)
- Assainissement (Sanitation)
Next week is our last Wednesday of Wikipedia edition (in both French and English) as part of our contract with SuSanA but hopefully not the last ones! We are hoping you could improve the articles as well, each contributions worth it and is useful!
Meet us on the Adobe Connect room next Wednesday if you are available even for a short time! seint.adobeconnect.com/wpeditathon/?launcher=false
All the best,

Re: [In French] C'est parti ! Prioritized list of French articles to edit ! Edit-a-thon (19th-21th of March)
I was looking something else up in Wikipedia and came across this page which looks helpful for new people wishing to translate articles (perhaps you have already seen it):
meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meta:Babylon/Tra...translators/Articles
Many Wikipedias have their own guidelines for how to handle translations.
See here the guidelines from the French Wikipedia:
fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aide:Traduction
I hope this helps a little bit.
Regards,
Elisabeth

Dear July and Cranfield student team!
Thanks for your bilingual post - great!
I agree with your selection of articles to focus on. Furthermore, only two of the articles in your list already exist in French:
And the one on WASH has a "see also" link which points to Watsan, which has a bit of information. WASH, Watsan - same thing. Therefore, I think you should have a redirect from Watsan to WASH, like we did in English:
A redirect is super easy to do in Wikipedia, you just need to add this command in source editor at the top of the empty page:
If anyone needs help with such redirects, just let me know.
So much work to be done on the French Wikipedia on WASH topics... Great if you and others could make a start! Do use the translation tool that Wikipedia has created so that the links and references remain intact if you translate from an English article.
Regards,
Elisabeth

[In French] C'est parti ! Prioritized list of French articles to edit in Wikipedia!
Hi everyone,
//
Bonjour !
We are a team of Cranfield University MSc students working with SuSanA in the support Wikipédia Edit-a-thon event. Within the team, we are one Ghanaian, one Malawian and two French. SuSanA wants to improve cooperation with francophone. Therefore, the team defined a list of 13 top articles to create or edit in French during the Edit-a-thon ! Be aware that for most of them the French page is inexistant and need to be created.
//
Here is the List :
//
Voici la liste :
Behavior Changes (Public Health)
Open defecation
Ecological Sanitation
Fecal sludge management
Sustainable sanitation
WASH
World toilet day
Organic fertilizer
Reuse of excreta
Helminthiasis
Urine-diverting dry toilet
Global Handwashing Day
Menstrual hygiene day
We are still open for feedbacks and eventual changes.
//
Nous restons ouverts aux retours et à vos éventuelles critiques.
Merci d'avance pour votre future contribution.
The Cranfield Team.
