Re: Contribute to the Global Survey on Menstrual Hygiene Management!

Dear Danika,

This is an interesting survey. Could you please give us an interim update regarding your findings? I looked at filling it in but the information I would supply would be for Germany - which I assume is not really what you are after. I assume the situation in Germany is similar to all the other "Western" countries. Are you finding that the responses that come in can be grouped in say 5 different types of countries or is the variation really huge and many countries have totally different menstrual hygiene management practices?

Regards,
Elisabeth

P.S. Any chance I could get anyone from your team interested in helping to improve menstrual hygiene content on Wikipedia? You can imagine that many women and girls turn to Wikipedia to find objective information on this topic. There are quite a few relevant Wikipedia pages. The ones that I have been involved in improving so far are:
Menstrual Hygiene Day: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menstrual_hygiene_day
Menstrual cup: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menstrual_cup (this page gets about 1000 views per day, see here: tools.wmflabs.org/pageviews/?project=en....&pages=Menstrual_cup)
(both need further work and references)

Re: Last chance! Contribute to the Global Survey on Menstrual Hygiene Management

Dear colleagues,

Columbia University, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), UNICEF, UNFPA, and UNHCR invite you to share your expertise with us as we work to improve the lives of displaced girls and women around the world. To help us all create environments in which girls and women can live with dignity, we hope to capture documentation on local menstrual management practices in regions around the world.

Our aim is to collect existing information (through a short survey) on the unique aspects of managing menstruation in each context, such as material and supply preference, hygiene practices, and cultural beliefs. Your responses will aid in the creation of an open-access database, describing local MHM practices for the purposes of a rapid, culturally appropriate, response if an emergency arises. The database will ultimately be posted on a publicly accessible website for the global humanitarian response community.

We hope you take just a few minutes to fill out the Global Survey on Menstrual Hygiene Management as best you can, as any information will be useful in this worldwide effort.

To view, please click the following link: s.surveyplanet.com/HyFnhEJ5-x

The last day to complete the survey is November 10, 2017.

Although directly consulting with girls and women is a priority, this database aims to expand the information available on menstrual practices through whatever existing information is available to better enable organizations to plan and respond to the critical MHM needs of girls and women. Please share with additional colleagues and networks who may be able to provide critical input on this!

Thank you in advance for your support!
